Covid-19 Update

Covid-19 Update

Hello everyone,

We can now confirm that for those people who feel comfortable so to do, we will be returning to worshiping in our church building from the 2nd of August, assuming that there is no second spike of the Covid-19 virus.

We will be doing so with 2 metre social distancing. When you arrive at the building, you will be asked to queue with 2 metre social distancing outside. On entering the building, you will then be directed to your seat by a deacon. We will fill up the church from the front to the back first of all with 2 metre social distancing. There will also be use of the balcony, using the bench against the wall at the back of the balcony and in the choir stalls. Again, this will all take place with 2 metre social distancing.

At the end of the service, the church will be emptied from the balcony, from the back to the front of the building. And then when the upstairs is empty, we will vacate the church ground floor. This will be done in the same way, from the back first, last of all to the front of the building. We will not, for the month of August, be celebrating Holy Communion as we have quite enough to consider making sure the social distancing, and the entering and exiting the building are all done in an orderly and safe fashion. Face masks will be mandatory for all those attending, and if people do not remember to bring them, they will be provided by the deacons who will be acting as stewards.

The service will be shorter in duration, lasting not more than 45 minutes and the children’s program will take place in the John Yeoman’s Hall and will be conducted with social distancing.

I hope that gives you some idea of how things are going to happen. Places where people sit will be clearly marked on the pews.  There will not be singing, so things are going to be very different. We’ll be sat 2 metres apart from each other but we do hope that we will be able to provide you with a different experience of worship and one through which we can grow together.

For those of you who do not feel that it is the right thing for you to return to church at this time, please be assured that we will be providing our online materials as we are at the moment.

If you have any queries or questions, please feel free to telephone me or email me and I will do my best to answer any of these.

God bless you.

Mark
