So What Actually Happens?

So What Actually Happens?

Our Sunday morning service start at 10:45 AM. You will find an usher at the door who will welcome you and explain what is going on.  We normally finish around 11:45, or 12:15 if the service includes communion. (At communion services we eat bread and drink wine to remind us that Jesus died for us before rising from the dead.)

We start with a hymn or song, after which there is a short talk for the young and the young at heart. This is followed by more songs or hymns and then the children go to their Sunday School classes while the adults stay behind for prayers for the world and a reading from the Bible. This is followed by a teaching based on the Bible passage we have read. It is intended to help us make sense of how the Bible speaks to the modern world in which we live and to help us to follow Jesus in our everyday lives.

We have a music group, an organ and a choir, so the music is a mix of traditional hymns and more modern worship songs.  After the service, we all gather in the Assembly Room next to the chapel for tea, coffee and biscuits (and cake if we are lucky).

On Sunday evenings, service starts at 6:00 PM.  It’s much the same format but without the music group. On the third Sunday of each month we have “Chilled out Church” with a very informal format including hymns on the piano and some worship songs led by the Minister on the guitar.
